Dr. Hawley was born and raised here in Borger. He graduated from Borger High School in the late 90s. Through high school and early college, he worked as a field hand maintaining natural gas compressors. Following high school, he attended Frank Phillips college for basic studies. From there, he attended and graduated from Texas Tech University with B.S. degree in Biology. While attending Texas Tech, he worked at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in the department of Family and Community Medicine.
After he and his wife graduated from Texas Tech, he attended and graduated from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. The medical school has consistently been ranked in the top ten schools for rural medicine training (see latest news releasehttp://www.usd.edu/press/news/news.cfm?nid=1935
). He and his wife lived in Rapid City and the beautiful Black Hills and spent most of their freetime outdoors.
After completion of medical school, Dr. Hawley was selected to continue his training in Waco, Texas at the oldest family medicine residency west of the Mississippi. Waco offered unopposed training meaning other residencies such as Pediatrics, OB/Gyn, Surgery were not available. As a result, the residency program provided a wide range of services to fill these voids caring for the underserved. The program had a very busy inpatient newborn, neonatal intensive care, pediatric, and medicine (including ICU) hospital service. This allowed physicians training there to obtain extensive experience with various illnesses and performing a variety of procedures that otherwise would have been provided by other clinicians.
Dr. Hawley is married and has 3 daughters. He and his wife have family in Borger and surrounding area as well. In their free time, they enjoy time with family, boating, cooking out, snow and water skiing, fishing, catching football games, as well as attending his daughters' events.
